Throttle nation Shootout results

What a Fantastic weekend for TLN Motorsports at Maxton for Round 4 of the ECTA Land Speed Racing Trials, featuring the Throttle Nation Top Speed Challenge. We set 4 Land Speed records, 3 on the ZX-6RR and 1 on the ZX-10R.

We are Throttle Nation Shootout NA 650cc Class Champions as our 2006 ZX-6 ran a top speed of 182.095 mph establishing a new Land Speed record in the APS/G-650/4 class. That is the 2nd fastest time that bike has ever run on the mile (2nd fastest time in the world on the mile, Period), and the bikes fastest time on the mile in stock bodywork. We battled some fuel and electrical issues, and still push a small amount of oil, but the KWS powered ZX-6 came through beautifully. What a strong performance by that motorcycle.

We are also Throttle Nation Shootout NA 1000cc Class Champions as our 2008 ZX-10R ran a top speed of 198.887 mph establishing a new Land Speed record in the APS/G-1000/4 class. That was the fastest NA 1000cc pass on the mile in Maxton this year.

While the weather was extremely hot on Saturday, we battled all day long making 14 passes. I was totally spent at the end of the day. The air temperature soared to 96 degrees with 93% humidity under bright sunshine. Track temperatures reached 130 degrees. I was literally cramping up on the motorcycle at speed on the course. The ZX-6 had done it's job and we were pushing the ZX-10 for the record. It was well worth all the effort when I say the 198.887mph timing slip. 200mph would have been nice, but breaking the record was the goal going in.

This team has worked so very hard through so much adversity this year. This has to be the most satisfying weekend of racing ever. We didn't know if we would even be still racing now, but we found a way, and we made it happen. Never Give Up/Never Give In. I am so pleased, but there is still that 200mph mark on the mile. Already planning how to get that.

We at TLN have meant a lot to the ECTA. There are now turbo 600's and nitrous 600's that come to Maxton to compete. They are slowly taking the fuel and blown records. That is fine where we stand. The all motor 636 owned all the records and that helped bring the nitrous and turbo bikes out. We are all about doing things on motor. The gas records are where we will continue to concentrate. That's what TLN is about.

I have to thank the good people at Throttle nation Magazine for an awesome event. We received some fantastic swag for our success. Thanks to Kevin Hunt at KWS Motorsports for providing the power to run the speeds. Thanks to Vortex for parts help and giving us the strongest/lightest sprockets to get that power on the ground. Thanks to D&D Cycles in Norfolk, Va. for help locating parts. If you need a new Triumph, used bike or just quality service, see Brian Stevens at D&D. Thanks to Monty Spears and the Run 1 Racing Motorsports team. Monty knows what to say to motivate you when the times are hard. Watch them in the AMA Road Racing series. Thanks to Chris Brewer and Brewer Cycles in Henderson, NC. Chris made me a deal or we would not have the ZX-10 in our stable. Thanks to each of you that have been behind us through this all. Thanks for the words of support and encouragement. It means the world to us. Thanks to Tracy, Team Owner/Wife. She finds a way to keep us racing. And a giant Thanks to all who serve to keep freedom alive and well. We owe you all everything.

The plan is to find a way to compete in October. That 200mph club in Maxton is calling.
